Learning to dance the “DeSarge” way is fun and easy.
We offer private lessons where we can personalize the instruction to suit your needs. We can work on timing, technique and step patterns at a speed that is compatible with your way of learning.
We offer group classes so you can learn to dance with different partners.
We offer open dance sessions weekly so you can practice all the dances learned each week. We announce each dance so you can recognize the music with each dance.
We have Medal Testing which helps you set and acheive your goals by moving up the levels of dancing.
We offer match dances and showcases so you can perform and showcase your dancing.

Edward "Sarge" Sargent
Owner/ Instructor & Choreographer
Sarge (as he is known by his students) has taught dance for over 35 years owned studios in South Africa (for 14 years) and then moved to Naperville in 1992. Sarge has established a reputation and is widely known within the Chicago dance community. Sarge has pure passion for teaching dance, evidenced by unwavering high energy, infectious enthusiasm and total dedication. He does not simply teach he motivates, creates, sculpts, encourages and inspires. His range of dance knowledge and accomplishment allow him to offer instruction seldom found at other dance studios.
Not only does Sarge have the ability to train the most awkward, self-conscious beginner through the most skilled dancer, he maintains a sincere interest in doing so to help each of his students achieve the fullest potential of personal growth. Sarge, an NDCA dance professional, is Bronze, Silver and Gold qualified in American style Smooth and Rhythm dances as well as International certification & Standard and Latin Dances (US Terpsichore Assn.) His dance achievements include South African Rock & Roll Champion, 24 hour dance marathon winner, and has won numerous awards as Top Teacher, Top Manager, Top Studio, and has won many dance competitions nationally and internationally.
Carole Sargent
Owner/ Instructor & Choreographer
Carole has always loved teaching, earning a Bachelor degree from Olivet Nazarene University and a Master’s Degree from Northern Illinois University. She spent 18 years teaching math at the high school and college level. She also coached the varsity cheerleaders taking them to many local and regional competitions. Carole’s love for teaching branched out into the world of Ballroom dancing. Her teaching experience gives her the unique ability to break down steps and make them easy to understand. Her people skills put students at ease as they learn to dance.
Nina Martinez
Instructor & Choreographer
Nina began dancing with Sarge as a young girl. Within her first few lessons, she fell in love with the elegance and precision of ballroom dance. As time progressed, she began teaching others, sharing her growing passion for movement, rhythm, and connection. Over the years, Nina has trained in a variety of ballroom styles, from the smooth grace of the Waltz and Foxtrot to the lively energy of Latin chances such as Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing and Salsa. Whether it’s a private lesson or group class, Nina’s enthusiasm for teach and movement shines through everything she does!
